Visit to UniKL New Campus-MITEC


23rd February 2011, 37 students of DLM students visited the UniKL new campus where located in the Pasir Gudang territory. The new campus named as UniKL-MITEC, formely known as UniKL Pasir gudang. The MITEC campus offers Bachelor programmes in Industrial Logistics and Quality Engineering.

The visit was conducted by ILMA students in order to get some clear explanation on study opportunities in MICET. The event began at 10:30 am started with academic briefing by Puan Hawa and En. Nasir. KMPBP's students were presented with 3D interactive virtual Tour to explore the campus and later they were briefed on the programme details such as courses, campus life, credit transfer, fees and scholarship and other related information. The senate of MITEC agreed for credit transfer on related subjects up to 44 credit hours altogether. It is a good chance for those plan to shorten their study duration and cost. MITEC's students are also given allowance by MARA for RM690/month during their study.

The event ended with campus tour at 3:45pm. UniKL provides sophisticated learning and campus facilities such as multimedia equipments, workshops, multimedia studios to high technology laboratories. MITEC has 12 workshops to be used for the practical learning and one of them will be completed as "Future Warehouse" concept. The real live warehousing activities will be operated soon with collaboration with logistics firm and expose students to real logistics activities such as documentation, material handling and also loading & unloading activities. KPMBP students only need to score at least 2.00 in their CPGA enable them to further study at MITEC.

The Industry Dialogue 2010 in KPM Bandar Penawar was the first dialogue organised by the Department of Business Management, Mara Professional College Bandar Penawar. The date was October 4th, 2010 and conducted at KPMBP's Lecture Hall.  The theme for this year’s dialogue was  Peluang Kerjaya Logistik dan Cabarannya. The objectives were to expose and provide knowledge to students on opportunities in this field.  Students were also aimed to be well prepared for their future carrier.

Four experienced panels from logistics industry were invited to share their experiences and opinions, Mr. Francis Beins (The Vice President of Johor Freight Forwarding Association), Mr. Rasyihan Anwar Rashid (BASF-Petronas), Mr. Mat Sahar Kassim (The General Manager of Felda Transport Services Sdn. Bhd.) and finally Mr. Chua Lee Wei (The Customs Officer).

There were 87 logistics students had attended the dialogue and participated in the Question and Answer session. Most of the participants showed their interest and gave positive feedback at the end of the dialogue.
